Grandad
A film by Emma Lawton (student film 2020-21)
‘Grandad’ is a short film exploring the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the elderly. Focusing on my own grandad, Hugh Rourke, the film shows that the elderly community are more than how they have been portrayed in the mainstream media over the past year. They are full of love and life left to live. This film portrays a typical conversation between a grandfather and granddaughter during which Hugh recalls some of the key events in his life that shaped him into the man he is today and delves into his attitude towards love, life, and loss.
This film was produced as part of the BA Media programme at Keele University.
